Dr. Colorado provides collaborative, culturally sensitive, and solution focused treatment, tailoring the interventions to the client’s unique needs and experiences by integrating research with practice and utilizing the most applicable interventions for each client’s presenting symptomatology. When indicated, she also partners with schools, psychiatrists, and other medical providers to optimize outcomes.
Dr. Colorado received her B.A. in psychology with an honors distinction from Rutgers University and completed her doctorate in Clinical and School Psychology at Yeshiva University. During graduate school, Dr. Colorado received advanced trainings in evidence-based treatments (EBTs) such as Teacher-Child Interaction Therapy, Incredible Years, Coping Cat, and Game-Based Cognitive Behavior Therapy through Yeshiva’s Early Childhood Research Lab and practicum experiences at New York-Presbyterian | Columbia University Medical Center and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. She gained additional experience working in school settings with youth with severe learning issues and has an extensive knowledge on navigating the educational system.
Dr. Colorado is also a native Spanish speaker, who has provided psychological treatment and assessment in Spanish and English, including her doctoral internship at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, where she worked with infancy through geriatric age populations in five subspecialty clinics. Dr. Colorado obtained further training in neuropsychological assessments, psychological assessments of infants and toddlers with developmental and learning disorders, as well as became trained in EBTs such as Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Dr. Giselle Colorado is currently a licensed psychologist at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, who specializes in working with children and adolescents with a history of trauma, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, self-injurious behaviors, emotion dysregulation, depression, and anxiety. Additionally, she works with adults, families, and parents and is foundationally trained in DBT, DBT-PE, TF-CBT, EMDR, and ARC. Dr. Colorado also has a strong background in psychological testing and presently supervises psychology trainees through the APA-accredited internship program at Trinitas, as well as, teaches a graduate course in psychological assessments at Rutgers University.
