Evolve Psychological Services is a private-pay, out-of-network practice. We do not bill insurance directly, a model that allows us to prioritize your care over insurance company guidelines, protect your privacy, and offer the level of specialized, personalized services your family deserves.

We believe cost should never be a barrier to getting the support you need. That’s why we’ve partnered with Thrizer to make out-of-network psychotherapy more financially accessible for our clients.

Understanding Your Out-of-Network Benefits 

Your insurance plan may include out-of-network (OON) benefits, which means your insurance can reimburse you for a significant portion of psychotherapy session costs, even though we don’t bill them directly.

Traditionally, using OON benefits meant paying the full session fee upfront, obtaining a superbill, submitting it yourself, and waiting weeks for reimbursement. For psychotherapy services, Thrizer streamlines this entire process for you.

Once your deductible, if any, is met, you pay only your reduced financial responsibility per session. Thrizer submits your claims automatically and manages the process on your behalf.

Thrizer is available for psychotherapy services only. Clients seeking evaluations or coaching services should contact us directly to discuss fees and payment options.

Your Three Options for Psychotherapy 

All three options are available to you at Evolve Psychological Services. There is no pressure, choose what works best for your situation:

1. Self-Submit
Full fee, self-submit superbill

  • Pay our full fee at each session in our scheduling system, TherapyNotes
  • We provide you with a superbill either weekly or monthly
  • You submit the superbill to your insurance yourself
  • Your insurance reimburses you directly (timing varies by insurer)
  • No Thrizer account needed

2. Full Pay + Thrizer
Full fee, automatic claim submission

  • Pay our full fee at each session through Thrizer
  • Thrizer automatically submits your insurance claim, no superbill needed
  • Thrizer tracks your claim, handles denials, and manages follow-up
  • Once approved, reimbursement goes directly to your bank account
  • Pre-deductible: $0 Thrizer fee, claims count toward your deductible
  • Post-deductible: 1% Thrizer fee based on the session fee

3. Thrizer Pay
Reduced responsibility, automatic claim submission

  • Once your deductible, if any, is met, pay only your reduced financial responsibility per session
  • Thrizer submits your insurance claim automatically
  • No superbill, no waiting for reimbursement, Thrizer handles everything
  • Clients save upfront on session costs
  • Estimated costs are based on your plan data and are not guaranteed.

Insurance Basics

We are out-of-network with all insurance carriers. We do not bill insurance directly, but many psychotherapy clients use their out-of-network benefits through Thrizer to significantly reduce their out-of-pocket costs.

Yes. Evolve Psychological Services is a private-pay, out-of-network practice serving clients in New Jersey, New York, and PsyPact states via telehealth. Many clients receive reimbursement for a portion of their sessions through out-of-network benefits.

In-network providers have contracted rates with insurance companies. Out-of-network providers, like Evolve Psychological Services, set their own rates and are not bound by insurance contracts, which allows us to offer specialized, individualized care without insurance dictating the type or length of treatment.

Thrizer

Thrizer is a billing service that manages the out-of-network process for psychotherapy clients on your behalf. Depending on which option you choose, Thrizer can automatically submit your insurance claims, track reimbursements, and, once your deductible is met, allow you to pay only your reduced financial responsibility at the time of your session. Thrizer is not available for evaluation or coaching services.

It depends on the option you choose:

  • Self-Submit: No Thrizer fees. You manage your own superbill submission.
  • Full Pay + Thrizer: $0 fee while working toward your deductible. After your deductible is met, a 1% fee is deducted from your reimbursement.
  • Thrizer Pay: A 5% fee of the session fee is collected at the time of your session, once your deductible is met. No fee while working toward your deductible.

Thrizer is not available for evaluation or coaching services. Clients seeking neuropsychological, autism, or immigration evaluations, or executive function coaching, should contact us directly to discuss fees, payment options, and superbill availability for independent insurance submission.

Fees by Service

Individual, couples, and family session fees vary by session type and length. Please call or email for details.

Fees depend on the referral questions being addressed, which determine the assessment instruments used, the number of testing sessions needed, and total time involved. All evaluations include a clinical intake and a feedback session. Please call or email for details.

Fees depend on the case type (Waiver, Asylum, VAWA, U-Visa, etc.), the number of individuals included in the report, and the requested turnaround time. Please call or email for details.

Fees for additional services, including report writing, telephone consultations with other providers or schools, preparation of records or treatment summaries, and other clinical tasks, are prorated in 15-minute increments based on the primary service type. Please note that most additional services may not be reimbursable by insurance.

Payment

All payment is due at the time of service. For neuropsychological evaluations, payment may be made in full at the first session or spread across a few payments over the duration of the evaluation.

We accept credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, debit cards, cash, and checks. Checks should be made out to Evolve Psychological Services.

Fees are reviewed and adjusted periodically to reflect increases in the cost of operations.

Cancellation

Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a therapy appointment. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full session fee.

If you or a member of your household is diagnosed with a communicable illness (e.g., strep throat, flu, COVID-19) or you have a cough or fever, please contact your clinician to determine whether your session will be held virtually, rescheduled, or canceled.

Superbills & CPT Codes

A superbill is a detailed invoice that includes your demographic information, diagnosis codes, CPT service codes, and provider information. It is used to submit out-of-network claims to your insurance plan.

Superbills can be provided after each session or on a monthly basis. For clients submitting to insurance independently, we recommend submitting on a routine basis, as insurance companies have varying deadlines for out-of-network claims.
